With more than 40 years experience as a Certified Public Accountant, Robert O. Mayer manages the firm. In 1992, he created Mayer & Company LLP, which has been named “Best Accounting Firm on Long Island” by Long Island Business News.

Robert’s entrepreneurial prowess and innovative growth strategies are among the many assets that he provides to his clients. As early as 1978, when Robert was a freshly minted CPA, he joined an accounting firm as its second staff person and helped the firm grow to 40 employees within five years. Later on, as chief financial officer for a Long Island company, he helped that company expand from one location to five, and increase sales from $12 million to $60 million over five years. He also served as Chief Financial Officer of a lumber wholesale company, where he brought the sales from $42 million to $160 million by acquiring production in the west and northeast and bringing it to the tri-state area for consumption.  Robert has been included in Long Island Business News’ “Who’s Who in Accounting” and was recognized by the publication in 2010 as among Long Island’s highest achieving “50 Around 50.”

Active in both his profession and the larger community, Robert serves on the Corporate Committee of the Nassau County Museum of Art, is the past Treasurer of the Long Island Lumbermen’s Association, past Treasurer of the Dix Hills Jewish Center, past President of Ocean Dunes Cooperative and past Treasurer of the HOA of The Hamlet on Olde Oyster Bay. He is a past President of the Suffolk Chapter of the National Association of Accountants and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) and the National Conference of CPA Practitioners. Robert is also a member of the Hofstra Business School Advisory Board and U.S. Trust Advisory Board.

Robert earned his Bachelor’s Degree in accounting from Hofstra University and became certified as a CPA in 1977.
